Explanation:

• Another way to connect two INDEPENDENT clauses is with a semicolon (S+V ; S+V).  
• If you do, then you don't use one of the FANBOYS, but it is okay to use another connecting word and then a comma, like these:
  • however,
  • therefore,
  • consequently,
  • in fact,
