Peer Editing the Research Paper

Very common mistakes:
  • You can't use 1st person (I, me, my, mine, we, us, our & ours).
  • You need to spell out single-digit numbers (e.g., one instead of 1).
  • You also need to spell out numbers at the beginning of a sentence (e.g., Thirty percent of people...)
  • To make a word possessive ('s or s'), if it's singular, add 's.
  • Remember "comma + FANBOYS."

  • affect = change (verb)
    effect = change (noun) 
  • allowed = given permission
    aloud = out loud
  • could have = [correct]
    could of​ = [not correct]

  • ​lose = misplace or fail
    loose​​ = not tight
  • ​quite = almost
    quiet = not loud
    quit = stop
  • then = afterward
    than​ = ​[used to compare]
  • they're = they are
    their = belonging to them
    there​ = a place
  • ​​to = [lots of uses]
    too = also
    two = 2
  • who's = who is or who has
    whose​ = belonging to whom
  • who = used like he
    whom = used like him
  • you're = you are
    your = ​belonging to you
