JBJ Class

FANBOYS

Use Practice 1 & 2  to learn the concept before doing the Quiz.
You only get one chance on the quiz, so practice as many times as you need.
Practice 1          Practice 2
I'll post the quiz link in PowerSchool on Thursday or Friday.
Explanation:
  • It is never okay to connect two independent clauses with only a comma (S+V, S+V).
    Commas are weak!
  • Instead, use a comma and a connecting word (S+V, and S+V).
  • The most common connectors are the FANBOYS:
    • for
    • and
    • nor
    • but
    • or
    • yet
    • so
  • Most longer connectors (however, although, moreover, consequently, etc.) need a semicolon instead of a comma.
