  • Prompt: This prompt has two parts:
    (1) How do you feel about Sherpas helping other people climb Mt. Everest, even though it could cost them their life?  Include at least two reasons for your opinion.  
    (2) What could the customers do to help the families of Sherpas who die while on the job?  Include at least two ideas.
  • Grading: 20 points total
    Grammar/spelling = 5  (-1 per mistake, up to 5)
    Length = 5 (-1 per 10 words, up to 5)
    Content = 10
       - clear opinion = 2

    Be sure to include some evidence from the story.

    Length = 5 (-1 per 10 words, up to 5)
    Content = 10
       - basic idea = 3
       - Mr. Blackwell's theory = 2
       - the narrator's theory = 2

Sept. 6: Dynamic Characters
Write at least 75 words over the topic below.  Save it as a PDF and email the PDF to me before 3p.m. next Wednesday, Sept. 11.  It's not "turned in" if it's not a PDF.
  • Prompt: Think about Waverly in "Rules of the Game" and/or Elena in "American History."  How do they change from the beginning to the end of their stories?  se at least three quotes from the book to backup your answer.  You can write about either one of them or both of them.  
  • Grading: 20 points total
    Grammar/spelling = 5  (-1 per mistake, up to 5)
    Length = 5 (-1 per 10 words, up to 5)
    Content = 10 (3 quotes, ideas make sense)
